The beauty of the Colour Streams range of silk overdyed threads is the range of thicknesses available. This gives the braider or embroiderer options for textural pieces. The 50 overdyed colours give the braider the opportunity to create the most beautiful colour play be it old world or contemporary. Beth has used Exotic Lights in many of her beautiful projects displaying the luster and quality that only silk can give. The Ophir is great for very fine braids for scissor keepers and the like, while Aurora is ideal for belts or heavier braids.

Exotic Lights: coarse high luster gentle twist silk thread, approx equivalent to Perle 3 suitable for medium weight braids.
Ophir: buttonhole twist high luster silk thread. approx equivalent to Perle 8-10 for very fine braids
Aurora: very thick with a rich luster approx = Perle 1 suitable for thicker braids.

A note: I have tried many other silk threads, but keep coming back to Exotic Lights as the 8 meter lengths are so easy to handle and to set up the disk for braiding. The only decision is which colour to use! I'm often asked which threads have I used in the projects in my “How To Kumihimo” book, the majority of patterns in my book and in my Braiding Kits are worked in Colour Streams ' Exotic Lights' silk thread.
Exceptions are: “The Stunner” is worked in DMC Metallic Thread. “Around The Twist” is worked in Oliver Twist threads. These contain a variety of textured threads in silk and cotton, but you can use any combination of threads.
